What is it?
BookmarkTiles is a Bookmarks Add-On for your Browser, basically any Browser, but it is designed mainly for Safari.
It mimics the previously know Safari Feature TopSites and brings it back to all newer Versions of Safari along with some other Features that never arrived or dropped years ago.
BookmarkTiles has currently one difference, you cannot rearrange the Tiles with drag & drop, the sort by creation.
BookmarkTiles is all about visual Bookmarks, this means, instead of having list with text Bookmarks, menus, folder, subfolders etc, you get a graphical UI with Website Thumbnails, FavIcons and ,more …
You can add as many Bookmarks as you want or need but instead of scrolling through all of them, you can set a Tag for each Bookmark that you defined previously, once done, you get a Tagline at the top of the HUD from where you can fast access pre-sorted and pre-filtered, section—like Overviews of your Bookmarks, but if you can’t find the bookmark you are looking for, you can even search it directly by Caption/Title.
If you ever used Safari years ago, there was a really helpful feature the notified you when a website had changes with a blue star in the Tiles Top-right Corner, wel,l, BookmarkTiles can do this as well if a Website supports it, you can even define on which changes you want to be notified if supported.
Such Bookmarks are than called Monitored, a monitored Tile can even be quick looked wit the Spacebar to check before visit if its worth it.
You can even fine-tune when BookmarkTiles takes the new Thumbnail, this is especially handy for slow Websites with dozen of Images that needs to be loaded first like Disney+ e.g. This ensures you don't get white or blank Thumbnails or missing Content due not loaded in time…
Creating a Bookmark is simple and fast, especially if you use safari, just click the Add Button, click the “Get current” Button to get the current Website open in safari and everything prepares automatically, if not, you can simply type in an URL and hit the Preload Button to auto obtain the Title/Caption, RSS feeds and anything else needed…
BookmarkTiles is designed and mentioned as an Utility Overview, therefore it is recommenced to use it without a Titlebar and a Dock Icon, they are both present but can be turned off in the Settings, the Dock Icon becomes even more irrelevant if you use BookmarkTiles with Safari, you can always access BookmarkTiles from the Status Menu Icon near the Clock at the top right side of your screen.
